Job summary

Koch Fertilizer in Wever, Iowa invites you to join as a 2027 Summer Electrical Engineer Intern for a 12-week program from late May to mid-August 2027. You will work with the Engineering team on real-world plant electrical systems and maintenance projects, gaining hands-on experience.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an Electrical Engineering or related degree, eligible for full-time employment by May 2028, and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2028.
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States for any employer without visa sponsorship.
• Able to meet all physical requirements listed for outdoor and plant environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist troubleshooting of plant electrical equipment (motors, drives, analyzers, control panels, power distribution, transmitters).
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs (inspect, test, document electrical systems).
• Help evaluate and specify new electrical equipment, instrumentation, and system upgrades (data sheets, one-line diagrams, cost estimates).
• Collaborate on capital improvement and reliability projects (design reviews, vendor discussions).
• Contribute to risk assessments, root cause analyses, and troubleshooting to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to engineering and operations teams.
