Job summary

Koch Fertilizer is seeking a 2027 Summer Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The internship is a 12-week program running from late May to mid-August 2027.

As an intern you will troubleshoot plant electrical and instrumentation equipment, support maintenance programs, and assist with data sheets, one-line diagrams, and cost estimates. You will collaborate on capital and reliability projects and present findings to engineers and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering or a related program.
• Eligibility for full-time employment before or by May 2028.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Able to meet all physical requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting plant electrical and instrumentation equipment: motors, drives, analyzers, control panels, power distribution, and transmitters.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs: inspect, test, and document electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Help evaluate and specify new electrical equipment, instrumentation, and system upgrades: prepare data sheets, one-line diagrams, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate on capital improvement and reliability projects: participate in design reviews and vendor discussions.
• Contribute to risk assessments, root cause analyses, and troubleshooting efforts to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to the engineering and operations teams.
