Job summary

The Hershey Company is offering a Summer 2027 Future Opportunity Intern Environmental Health & Safety at the Reese Plant in Hershey, PA. The role supports the EHS team in identifying risks, regulatory compliance, and safety improvements during hands-on manufacturing exposure.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Occupational, Safety, and Health or related field with 0–2 years of EHS experience, strong communication, and willingness to learn OSHA and environmental requirements

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication required.

• Ability to identify hazards and communicate concerns.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to organize data and identify trends.
• Willingness to learn OSHA and environmental requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the work environment for various risks and hazards.
• Support incident investigations and assist with corrective actions.
• Perform hazard assessments and recommend improvements to reduce risk.
• Assist in interpretation of OSHA standards/regulations.
• Participate in EHS projects and report to site leadership.
• Collaborate with EHS and Operations teams on safety considerations.
• Implement controls to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct safety and environmental audits and reviews.
• Assist with hazard identification during floor walks.
• Support risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Assist with machine guarding, LOTO, ergonomics, and other risk-reduction initiatives.
• Analyze EHS data to identify trends and opportunities.
• Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
• Participate in safety committees and training materials.
