Job summary

MISO invites qualified students to join its 2027 Summer Internship Program in Cybersecurity at the Carmel, IN office. This paid, full-time on-site internship provides hands-on experience protecting the electric grid and working on real cybersecurity operations.

As a graduate-level intern, you will build automations, analyze logs, and engage in threat hunts, while learning from experienced professionals and contributing to system resilience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Cybersecurity or related field (undergraduate or graduate).
• Classes or projects in networking, operating systems, cybersecurity fundamentals, incident response, scripting, or log analysis.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to explain technical problems clearly.

Responsibilities

• Help protect the electric grid by supporting cybersecurity operations—building automations, improving detections, analyzing logs, or assisting with threat hunts.
• Learn how cybersecurity teams identify suspicious activity, investigate incidents, and strengthen defenses using industry tools.
• Improve CTAC and Security team processes by identifying recurring issues and proposing practical solutions.
• Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to grow your skills and understand MISO’s mission.
• Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing project work, recommendations, and impact.
