Job summary

Colorado School of Mines is seeking a Summer Conference Manager to coordinate on-campus residential, dining, and meeting activities for summer conferences. The role supervises 10–15 student staff, manages housing, meals, and guest services, and partners with Residence Life, Facilities, Mines Dining and Access Services.

This full-time, 12-month exempt position is based on campus in Golden, CO. You will develop detailed plans, negotiate contracts, monitor budgets, and ensure outstanding service

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution (demonstrated and progressive experience in event management can be substituted).
• 2+ years of event planning/management experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm during busy times.
• Experience working in a customer service environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage Summer Conference Programs: plan housing, meals, athletics and spaces, and coordinate with staff and clients.
• Coordinate reservations, room assignments, check-in/out, guest services, and money collection for all conferences.
• Prepare and negotiate conference contracts describing facilities, services, and costs.
• Develop detailed conference plans and schedules with internal/external clients.
• Supervise 10–15 student staff and provide on-call support during conferences.
• Budgeting, billing support, and maintaining records and reports.
• Client relations: advise on resources, review proposals, and market conferences.
