Job summary

Protective Life is seeking a hands-on summer intern for its Corporate Communications team in Birmingham, AL. You’ll contribute to storytelling, content creation, and employee engagement while gaining exposure to the company culture and cross-functional teams.

The 8- or 9-week internship offers mentoring, real projects, and collaboration with leaders. Students in Communications, PR, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related fields are encouraged to apply; strong writers excel.

Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and tone.
• Quick researcher with ability to find and synthesize information efficiently.
• Comfortable taking initiative and ownership of tasks from start to finish.
• Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
• Familiarity with Canva or other design tools is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to actively engage with execution of projects.

Responsibilities

• Draft and edit internal communications content for Indigo, Protective’s intranet platform.
• Assist in writing and producing weekly news emails for employees.
• Support copy editing and proofreading across various communications.
• Create visual content using Canva and PowerPoint for internal campaigns.
• Conduct research to support storytelling and communications planning.
• Help maintain and update content on Indigo.
• Collaborate with team members on communications initiatives and special projects.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
