Job summary

Protective Life Corporation in Birmingham, AL, is hiring an Associate I in Corporate Communications to support employee communications. You will craft content for intranet, newsletters and emails, manage calendars and assist with announcements and leadership messaging.

You will collaborate across teams, draft materials, monitor metrics and help with crisis and external communications as needed. This role offers growth across disciplines and a 3/2 hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field required.
• 1–3 years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related experience preferred.
• Strong writing skills required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with teammates, business partners and senior leaders.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player who enjoys collaborating with others and building strong working relationships.
• Strong skills in Canva or another visual content creation platform preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
• High level of organization and attention to detail.
• Driven, proactive and goals-oriented.
• Experience with intranet publishing, newsletters, content management systems or employee communications preferred.
• Experience interpreting communications metrics and analytics preferred.
• Financial services or insurance industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit and publish content for intranet (Indigo), enterprise newsletters, digital signage, employee emails and other internal channels.
• Maintain the enterprise editorial calendar and coordinate content inputs, reviews, approvals and publication.
• Support enterprise announcements, employee campaigns, leadership communications and All Company Town Hall content.
• Partner with teams across the company to gather information and develop clear, audience-focused communications.
• Draft supporting materials such as key messages, FAQs, leader notes, Indigo articles and presentations.
• Track channel and content performance and support recurring communications reporting.
• Provide content and project support for executive, change, reputation, crisis and external communications as assigned.
• Contribute to team planning, cross-training and business continuity.
