Job summary

NiSource's Summer Substation Engineering Electrical Intern role offers hands-on experience with utility projects under experienced staff. You will assist in design, estimation, and project management for electric facilities, including AutoCad sketching and field measurements.

The 12-week program begins May 2027 in Merrillville, IN, requiring a student in an ABET-accredited engineering program who can work 40 hours weekly and is authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Qualifications

Current student of an ABET-accredited four-year engineering program.
Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
Able to work 40 hours per week.
Proficient with PC applications and AutoCad, MS Excel & Access.
Proven communication skills.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Assist engineering staff on projects to meet facility needs.
Evaluate, design, estimate and manage electrical facility projects of varying complexity.
Create job orders and sketches using AutoCad; perform field measurements.
Assemble data to create job order estimates; contribute to project management.
Demonstrate safety consciousness and reliability.
