Job summary

NWU is seeking an accounting-focused intern in the St. Louis area to support AP/AR processing, journal entries, and financial statement preparation. The role emphasizes accuracy, customer service, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

You will assist with reconciling client issues, covering the front desk when needed, and collaborating on special projects while gaining practical accounting experience aligned with your degree progress.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Accounting (juniors and seniors preferred).
• Prior accounts payable/receivable experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with high initiative, flexibility, and team approach to work.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Review, reconcile, and resolve client issues.
• Analyze, prepare, and post journal entries.
• Prepare financial statements; reconcile and review for accuracy and audit compliance.
• Sort and distribute mail and inter-office information to employees.
• Assist with replenishing office supplies by monitoring inventory levels and informing Office Coordinator.
• Cover front desk position when Office Coordinator is out of office or on break.
• Monitor and restock office supplies.
• Assist management with special projects as needed.
• Provide professional, responsive customer service to Client Accounting and Property Management requests.
• Perform other related duties as required or requested.
