Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a claims intern for the summer. You will investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate loss, analyze liability, and pay or deny losses, while learning by studying policies and forms.

You will handle investigations by phone, mail, and on-site visits, work toward timely payments, and serve the needs of agents and policyholders.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate loss, analyze liability, and pay or deny losses.
• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies, endorsements and forms.
• Work towards resolving claims, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
• Ensure that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
• Service the needs of agents, policyholders and others.
• Handle investigations by phone, mail and on-site investigations.
