Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design invites motivated students to join our Traffic Planning Discipline as a Summer 2027 intern in Holmdel, NJ. You’ll support planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects, gain hands-on experience, and work with engineers and project teams on roadway, highway, and transportation improvements.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) with coursework in Traffic/Transportation, possess strong communication and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering or related ABET-accredited program.
• Coursework in Traffic Planning, Traffic Design or Transportation desired.
• Internship experience preferred but not required.
• Interest in Traffic and Transportation projects.
• Reliable transportation to the office is required.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong computer literacy, including MS Office.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for work communications.

Responsibilities

• Assist design staff with day-to-day tasks on transportation and traffic projects.
• Perform traffic analysis data collection, crash analysis, and intersection/roadway capacity analyses under supervision.
• Prepare traffic impact studies as assigned by management.
• Do CAD work for conceptual traffic planning and preliminary design.
• Assist in cost estimation for detailed design plans.
• Opportunity to take on more responsibilities based on performance.
• Collaborate with other interns to understand related disciplines.
• Contribute to planning and technical report documentation.
• Participate in internship program activities and networking opportunities.
