Job summary

Baird, Hampton & Brown in Grapevine, TX seeks a temporary Civil Intern for this summer to learn essential skills from an established team of engineers. You will gain exposure to both private and public sector projects and see many aspects of civil engineering while building your technical abilities.

You will work under the guidance of senior engineers, analyze survey data, assist with plans using AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and prepare construction documents for permitting.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Connections are a critical part of how we work.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other data to plan projects.
• Plan and design transportation or hydraulic systems and structures using design software.
• Analyze and produce designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, roadway, etc.
• Prepare site grading and utility plans, hydraulic calculations, and construction documents for permitting.
• Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors for design specs.
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
• Communicate project status with the Project Manager, client, and other parties.
• Accompany engineers on site visits and attend client meetings.
