Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is offering a 2027 Summer Internship in Chemistry at site locations. The internship runs May to August for full-time students or recent graduates in North America.

Roles include lab support, instrument operation, and data interpretation under close supervision. Applicants should be pursuing a Chemistry degree or have recently graduated, with strong data analysis, communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in a four-year university pursuing a Chemistry degree or closely related field.
• Recent graduate within 12 months with a Chemistry degree or closely related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Highly accurate and detail oriented.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation, operation, and maintenance of chemistry lab equipment.
• Assist in inspections and recommend improvements to the lab environment.
• Help install and set up instruments and equipment.
• Operate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of lab policies and procedures.
• Support analytical laboratory duties and data interpretation.
• Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with lab customers for timely completion of analyses.
