Job summary

YMCA of Greater Montgomery is seeking a Chandler Leadership Coordinator at Camp Chandler to develop and lead the Leader in Training program, a two-week leadership experience for campers entering their final year. The role focuses on building confidence, kindness, responsibility, independence, and counselor skills through hands-on camp activities.

The Coordinator will supervise three two-week LIT sessions, create a structured curriculum, mentor participants, coordinate with Camp Chandler

Qualifications

• Experience leading youth programs and teams.
• Ability to develop curriculum and lesson plans for teens.
• Strong interpersonal skills for mentoring and coaching.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and lead Camp Chandler’s LIT program across three two-week sessions.
• Create a comprehensive LIT curriculum focused on leadership, kindness, confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and growth.
• Provide LITs hands-on opportunities to understand counselor responsibilities.
• Serve as a positive mentor and role model for LIT participants.
• Build relationships with LITs and create a supportive, challenging environment.
• Design age-appropriate lessons on leadership, communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and time management.
• Coordinate with different camp departments to offer diverse experiences.
• Assist LITs in pursuing relevant certifications (CPR/First Aid, Lifeguarding, etc.).
• Give constructive feedback and track participation and progress.
