Job summary

Galileo Learning, LLC in San Jose is seeking a Summer Camp Director for the Willow Glen location (2027). You will open and operate a Camp Galileo site, leading a seasonal team of educators and staff to create joyful, safe environments and outstanding camper and family experiences.

You will serve as both site General Manager and the public face of Galileo, overseeing operations, safety, curriculum, and team development while delivering exceptional customer care and program quality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working directly with students in education/out-of-school settings.
• Minimum 1 year of experience managing or supervising adult staff.
• Proven experience creating safe, inclusive environments for children and building trust with families.
• Proven experience setting clear expectations, giving ongoing feedback, and coaching staff.
• Demonstrated ability to manage scheduling, staffing, and payroll.
• Track record of staying calm and making sound decisions in fast-paced situations, including safety issues with families.
• Strong written and verbal communication with families, partners, and supervisors.
• Experience with hands-on, project-based learning (STEAM, art, design, maker programs) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own every aspect of the camp launch from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up.
• Oversee daily operations, parent communications, and program quality.
• Ensure camper safety and maintain family trust.
• Train and mentor staff, manage scheduling and payroll.
• Represent camp in the community and build partnerships; collaborate with Field Program Manager.
• Lead with Galileo Innovation Approach and foster a culture of curiosity.
• Travel for regionally in-person events as needed.
