Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Fort Collins, CO is seeking a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Internship. You will gain hands-on field experience in tree care, plant health care, sales and client services while working on a climbing crew outdoors.

Starting date is Summer 2027; this is a temporary, full-time internship ideal for college students on summer break. Rate of pay is $22.00 hourly. You will learn tree identification, pruning, removal, and safety procedures as part of a hands-on program.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and working outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Willing to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Willing to complete First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Pesticide licenses/certificates preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and contribute to the tree crew.
• Progressively learn pruning, removal, and maintenance work.
• Perform pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood safely.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection.
• Assist in removing hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers.
• Grow your skills and opportunities with the team.
