Job summary

Genuine Parts Company, via Motion Industries, offers an Agile PMO Intern role in the Birmingham, AL area for the summer. You will gain hands-on experience with how large programs are planned, delivered, and continuously improved within a modern PMO.

You'll work with experienced leaders on portfolio activities, agile ceremonies, dashboards, and governance materials, developing project delivery and analytical skills in a real-world environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/BA in Business, IT, Organizational Leadership, Engineering, or related field.
• Interest in project management, Agile delivery, portfolio management, or technology delivery.
• Basic understanding of project management and Scrum concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
• Exposure to delivery and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, Power BI, or MS Project is a plus.
• Awareness of SAFe or other scaled‑agile approaches is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project, program, and portfolio meetings; inform leadership on progress.
• Track milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items across initiatives.
• Support agile ceremonies across Agile Release Trains; PI Planning, standups, backlog refinement, reviews, demos.
• Maintain schedules, dashboards, reports, and portfolio and delivery metrics.
• Help build team-health, flow, and predictability views.
• Collaborate with teams to capture requirements, meeting notes, artifacts.
• Assist with executive presentations, status reports, and governance materials.
• Support PMO processes, templates, and tools for continuous improvement.
• Work with stakeholders to keep project information accurate.
• Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives.
