Job summary

Motion Industries is offering an Agile PMO Intern position based in Birmingham, AL. You will participate in project, program, and portfolio meetings and support agile ceremonies and dashboards across multiple initiatives.

You will gain hands-on experience tracking milestones, risks, and action items while learning from experienced PMO leaders. Ideal candidates are pursuing related degrees and eager to develop organizational, analytical, and collaboration skills in a large industrial distribution

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS/BA in Business, IT, Organizational Leadership, Engineering, or related field.
• Interest in project management, Agile delivery, portfolio management, or technology delivery.
• Basic understanding of project management and/or Agile concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
• Exposure to delivery and collaboration tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, Power BI, MS Project).
• Awareness of SAFe or scaled‑agile approaches is a plus.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project, program, and portfolio meetings and help keep leadership informed.
• Track milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items across initiatives.
• Support agile ceremonies across Agile Release Trains and PI Planning.
• Maintain schedules, dashboards, reports, and portfolio/delivery metrics.
• Contribute to team-health, flow, and predictability views for progress visibility.
• Capture requirements, meeting notes, and project artifacts with teams.
• Assist with executive presentations, status reports, and governance materials.
• Support PMO and agile process improvements and tooling.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to keep project info current.
• Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives by the Agile PMO team.

This position is based in Birmingham, AL. Ideal candidates reside in or near the Birmingham, AL area.

What you'll do

• Participate in project, program, and portfolio meetings, and help keep leadership informed on progress
• Help track milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items across multiple initiatives
• Support agile ceremonies across our Agile Release Trains, including PI Planning, team standups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and system demos
• Help maintain schedules, dashboards, reports, and portfolio and delivery metrics
• Support the build-out of team-health, flow, and predictability views that help teams and leaders see how work is progressing
• Collaborate with teams to capture requirements, meeting notes, and project artifacts
• Assist with executive presentations, status reports, and governance materials
• Support continuous improvement by helping refine PMO and agile ways-of-working processes, templates, and tools
• Work with business and technology stakeholders to keep project information accurate and current
• Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Agile PMO team

What you’ll bring

• Currently pursuing a BS or BA in Business, Information Technology, Organizational Leadership, Engineering, or a related field
• Interest in one or more of: project management, Agile delivery, portfolio management, business operations, or technology delivery
• Basic understanding of project management and/or Agile and Scrum concepts
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams
• Exposure to delivery and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, Power BI, or Microsoft Project is a plus
• Awareness of SAFe or other scaled-agile approaches is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous-improvement mindset
