Job summary

Beck's Hybrids offers a paid summer internship near Atlanta, Indiana, May through August 2027. Interns will rotate through segments covering plant growth, pathology, IPM, nutrition, and weed control, gaining hands-on experience in seed production.

Housing is provided as furnished housing or stipend, and interns participate in a structured program with professional development and a final research project related to seed production.

Qualifications

• Must have completed sophomore year in college and be majoring in Agronomy, Crop Science, Ag Systems Management, or Ag Economics.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Learn seed production basics and monitor stand emergence, growth, and development.
• Identify diseases and evaluate economic thresholds and management options in corn/soybeans.
• Participate in IPM by monitoring insect traps and understanding life cycles and impacts on yield and seed quality.
• Learn plant nutrition concepts and perform soil nitrate and leaf tissue sampling to diagnose deficiencies.
• Assist in herbicide and weed control evaluation and recommend weed management options.
• Participate in detasseling during pollination and document tassel counts and maturities.
• Contribute to an intern project related to seed production.
