Job summary

AeroVironment invites applications for a Summer Internship Program in Mechanical Engineering. This 12-week, onsite internship is designed for current college students or recent graduates with a strong interest in aerospace and defense technology.

Relocation/housing stipends may be available depending on location and team needs. Responsibilities include assisting with design of mechanical components, creating SolidWorks models, running simulations, and supporting fabrication/testing using

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience with prototyping, lab testing, or mechanical assembly.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Interest in aerospace/defense industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of mechanical components and systems (airframes, payload enclosures, ground equipment, launch systems).
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Support simulation and analysis tasks with SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Participate in prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing using in-house tools (3D printing).
• Help generate technical drawings and BOMs per drafting standards.
• Collaborate with engineers to support design reviews and testing activities.
• Contribute to documentation and reporting of design progress and test results.
• Learn/configure control and engineering change processes.
