Job summary

Mechanical Solutions, Inc. in St. Louis, MO is offering a paid Summer 2027 internship for undergraduate students.

Interns will shadow experienced Project Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators, and Safety Professionals, participating from conceptual stages through closeout of projects. You will gain hands-on experience on active job sites, learn cost management, scheduling, RFIs, change orders, and safety procedures, with guidance to support project teams across all phases.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university.
• Foundational understanding of construction principles and practices.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a collaborative approach to diverse teams.
• Experience with subcontracts, subcontractors, or self-perform work is a plus.
• Prior internship or project engineering experience on projects valued at $5 million+ (design-build experience preferred).
• Committed to upholding a Safety-First culture.
• Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically capable of navigating active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with clients and subcontractors to support project success
• Collaborate with engineers and planners to develop and maintain project schedules
• Support creation of accurate project forecasts and budgets
• Oversee cost management, change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation
• Take ownership of project execution and delivery
• Contribute to preconstruction planning, quality assurance, and safety initiatives
• Assist senior project managers in overseeing construction activities
• Support project teams throughout all phases
