Job summary

Ahlstrom is seeking a Product Development & Quality Process Engineer Intern for its Stevens Point, Wisconsin plant for Summer 2027. The role supports the Production Team to achieve safety, quality, production, cost and product development objectives on a paper machine process line, in a team-focused environment to build relevant skills for a future full-time position.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar Engineering degree program.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Living in or willing to relocate to Stevens Point, WI for May–Aug 2027.
• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials and writing trial reports.
• Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups.
• Learn and provide technical support to process engineers and coordinators with Proficy, Centerlining, Optivision and Aspentech software systems.
• Monitor and optimize process quality, conditions and variability.
• Reduce environmental impact and support safety, productivity, and cost-containment projects.
• Provide technical support for key departments and drive continuous improvement.
