Job summary

Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill is offering a Stock Prep/Operations Process Engineer Intern position for Summer 2027. The role supports the Production Team to meet safety, quality, and cost objectives on a paper machine process line, while developing discipline-specific skills in a team-focused environment.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Paper Science or related Engineering, authorized to work in the US, willing to relocate to Stevens Point, and ready to contribute technically while learning about

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar Engineering degree program
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Living in or relocating to Stevens Point, WI area from May–August 2027
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

• Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials, including development of trial plans and trial reports
• Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups
• Learn and provide technical support to process engineers and coordinators with Proficy, Centerlining, Optivision and Aspentech software systems
• Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions
• Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability and reduce environmental impact
• Provide technical support for key departments and apply problem-solving and analytical skills
• Support safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, compliance, and housekeeping projects
• Assist and/or lead continuous improvement activities and drive machine-line improvements
