Job summary

onsemi, based in East Fishkill, New York, is seeking a motivated engineering student to join the Wafer Probe Test Engineering group as a summer intern. The role focuses on testing MOSFET/IGBT devices at wafer level and developing automated test programs for high-volume production.

You will gain hands-on experience with automated semiconductor testers, work with seasoned Test Engineers, and participate in failure debugging, data analysis, and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Coursework or basic knowledge in electronics, semiconductor device fundamentals, and circuit analysis.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with lab equipment like oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow procedures with discipline (but also know when to change the procedure!).
  • Ability to work safely in cleanroom and lab environments.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, debugging, and validating wafer-level electrical test programs.
  • Support investigations into yield loss by running experiments, collecting data, and analyzing complex information.
  • Qualify and characterize new tools, hardware, tests, and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on probe test equipment.
  • Identify production risks before they propagate, tracking down solutions with rigor.
  • Work with onsemi teams around the world on projects.

The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
