Job summary

Southwest Airlines invites applications for a Summer 2027 Operations Engineering Internship at our Dallas, TX Corporate Campus. Interns will support the Network Planning Department and the Operations Engineering Team by evaluating aircraft performance, developing tools, and assisting with fleet strategy and operations analysis.

The program runs 12 weeks (May 18 – August 8, 2027). Students will work full-time (40 hours/week) and may receive stipends based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Involvement in aerospace engineering coursework preferred.
• Must be enrolled full-time during internship and have at least 3 semesters remaining.
• Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA required.

Responsibilities

• Work on engineering projects in maintenance/operations environment.
• Assist with special projects and events.
• Update aircraft performance calculations.
• Support airport capability analysis and market studies.
• Develop iOS and web-based applications to support operations.
• Maintain data structures for analytics projects.
• Prepare substantiation documentation for actions and proposals.
• Light travel may be required.
