Job summary

Southwest Airlines' Summer 2027 Aircraft Engineering Internship offers hands-on experience across Aircraft and Powerplant Engineering in the Technical Operations Department at our Dallas campus.

interns work 40 hours per week on real projects, collaborating with engineers and field service teams to address airworthiness, reliability and maintenance tasks while gaining exposure to data analytics and engineering documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required.
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student during internship.
• Minimum 3 semesters remaining at internship end preferred.
• Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Responsibilities

• Work on engineering projects in maintenance or operations settings.
• Support as an entry-level engineer with supervision.
• Assist with special projects and events.
• Conduct research projects.
• Develop data structures to support analytics.
• Support timely communication on initiatives.
• Present confidently to department leadership.
