About Andersen Construction is the Pacific Northwest's builder of choice, headquartered in Portland with regional offices in Seattle, Boise, and Eugene. Founded in 1950 and proudly employee-owned, Andersen is a premier general contractor and construction manager dedicated to highly complex projects across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, education, life sciences, advanced technology, industrial, commercial office, multifamily housing, and mass timber and CLT construction.

Andersen is at the forefront of collaborative delivery methods, including Design-Build, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), and CM/GC management, supported by in-house BIM, estimating, and preconstruction planning. The team is known for completing complex, multi-phased projects, often on occupied campuses and within fully functioning buildings, for clients across the region.

Guided by nine Core Values, Andersen's employee-owned culture is built around passionate builders with the grit to take on hard projects in pursuit of a shared goal. As an employee owner, you're not just building projects, you're building a career with people who care about the quality of their craft and your experience along the way.

About the Internship Program

Andersen's summer internship is a paid, 10-to-12-week program built to give students real project responsibility from day one, not just observation. Each intern is paired with an Internship Project Supervisor and work alongside Andersen's teams on live projects throughout the regional area.

Over the course of the summer, interns take part in structured project work, business unit exposure sessions, lunch and learns, and site visits, and are included in meaningful Andersen company and community events alongside full-time teammates. Interns have a steady cadence of professional development and reflection opportunities throughout the summer, capped by an end-of-summer program capstone event. An opportunity to end their summer experience with peers and business leaders.

Andersen internship opportunities may be available across the following disciplines. When applying, please indicate your track preference.

  • Project Engineering: Support project managers and project engineers with submittals, RFIs, subcontractor coordination, closeout documentation, and day-to-day project administration on an active Andersen jobsite.
  • Field Engineering: Work alongside superintendents and field engineers on layout, quality control, scheduling support, and day-to-day site coordination, gaining hands-on exposure to how a project comes together in the field.
  • Preconstruction & Estimating: Support the preconstruction and estimating team with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor bid solicitation, and cost analysis on projects moving through preconstruction.
  • Safety / EHS: Partner with Andersen's safety team on jobsite audits, safety documentation, and program support, building a foundation in construction safety and risk management.
What You'll Gain
  • An Internship Project Supervisor for the full summer, not just an orientation week.
  • Real project work on an active Andersen jobsite or preconstruction team, not shadow assignments.
  • Structured learning and reflection opportunities to ensure success.
  • Exposure to Andersen's broader business through BU sessions, lunch and learns, and site visits.
  • An end of summer capstone event with peers, supervisors, and company leadership.
  • A pathway to full-time opportunity consideration at the close of the program.
  • A flexible work week.
  • Competitive base wage
