Join the Health Care Value Strategic Informatics and Program Performance team for a summer internship where you'll use your data science/statistical analytics knowledge to help the business understand how programs are performing and identify new opportunities. Our team evaluates BCBSM programs to answer questions like; Is the program generating cost savings? Is the program reducing inpatient and emergency care utilization? Are there opportunities to improve the program’s performance?

Responsible for identifying, collecting, and maintaining data to perform comprehensive program evaluation
Analyze data using variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to applying statistical models
Complete projects that are well documented and repeatable
Create documents to summarize finding
Participate in meetings and present to stakeholders when necessary
Complete any assignments given from the internship program
Participate in networking events with BCBSM leaders and other interns
Engage in volunteer activities/community outreach to build knowledge of our communities and customers.
Participate in department meetings and events (i.e., department wide team building events, weekly meetings to ensure team alignment, etc.).

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Health Care, Information Systems, or other related fields.Master's Degree in related field preferred.
Strong communication skills are required to understand, interpret, and communicate ideas.
Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suites (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc).
Working knowledge of data languages such as SAS, R, Python/PySpark and SQL.
Ability to effectively interface with employees at all levels.
