Job summary

Peraton is seeking Summer 2027 Data Science Interns to support the IRAD program in Herndon, VA or Blacksburg, VA. Join a Strategic Innovation Center and work on advanced data projects across domains, in an Agile environment, to develop features and deploy models that deliver business value.

The internship requires 10 weeks (June–August) with 35–40 hours/week. Candidates should be enrolled in a four-year university, rising junior/senior, with strong coursework in data science and related tools.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in a data-related field with coursework in data science.
• Foundational experience in Python, R, Spark, and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with data science frameworks like TensorFlow, Sci-kit learn, NumPy, PyTorch, Matplotlib, SHAP.

Responsibilities

• Support IRAD projects in data science, model development, and deployment in production.
• Work in an Agile environment to identify data requirements and business insights.
• Develop code to clean data, create feature sets, and build/models.
• Collaborate with full-time staff and leadership across projects.
