Job summary

The Nuclear Company in Washington DC is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to contribute to NOS and AI-powered features. You will work alongside full-time engineers and nuclear experts, shipping real features to production and gaining hands-on experience building software for power plants.

This 12-week internship runs May to August, with base location in DC and on-site five days a week. Housing and relocation are provided for interns outside the DC metro area.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a relevant BS program and available for a full six-month term.
• Strong programming fundamentals in at least one modern language.
• Track record of shipping working software (projects or internships).
• This position requires U.S. export controls access; U.S. Person status required; no visa sponsorship.
• On-site in Washington DC five days a week for the six-month term.

Responsibilities

• Build features and modules within NOS including regulatory automation, cost and schedule, supply chain, and the portal.
• Develop AI-powered features, including LLM- and agent-backed capabilities.
• Create data integrations with Palantir Foundry and AWS GovCloud.
• Turn prototypes into production features and build deployment tooling for field teams.
• Develop automated tests and compliance infrastructure for NOS audit readiness.
