Job summary

The Nuclear Company is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to work on NOS, the Nuclear Operating System, in Washington, DC. You will ship real features alongside engineers and nuclear experts, focusing on AI-powered capabilities and data integrations in a regulated energy context.

This 12-week summer internship (May–August) requires on-site presence five days a week. Base housing and relocation are provided for interns outside the DC metro area.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• This internship requires full-time commitment for May–August and return to school afterward.
• Proven track record of shipping working software through projects or prior internships.

Responsibilities

• Build features and modules within NOS, including regulatory automation and cost/schedule tracking.
• Develop AI-powered features such as retrieval-augmented generation and tool-calling against internal systems.
• Create data integrations across Palantir Foundry and AWS GovCloud for production use.
• Convert prototypes into production-ready features and build deployment tooling for field teams.
• Develop automated testing and audit-ready infrastructure; triage issues and root-cause analysis.
