Job summary

The Nuclear Company is seeking an AI/ML Engineer Intern to join the Platform Integration & AI/Data squad in Washington DC for a 12-week Summer 2027 program. You will work on LLM-driven workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, and agents operating against NOS data and tools, alongside full-time engineers and nuclear domain experts.

You will ship real models and features to production, with opportunities to influence model evaluation, data pipelines, and tool integrations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a BS in Computer Science, ML, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Strong Python fundamentals and hands-on exposure to ML/LLM tooling (PyTorch, Hugging Face) through coursework or projects.
• Track record of shipping working software or ML projects (course projects, personal projects, internships or co-ops).
• U.S. export controls eligibility and U.S. Person status required; visa sponsorship not provided.
• Willing and able to work on-site in Washington DC five days a week for the full six-month term.

Responsibilities

• Ship ML and AI features inside NOS applications teams use every day: site evaluation, red flag analysis, scheduling, lessons learned, and stakeholder/project tools across active projects.
• Build AI agents and agent workflows that operate against NOS data and tools, including MCP interfaces and tool-use frameworks.
• Develop data pipelines and integrations across Palantir Foundry, AWS GovCloud, and more; contribute to data ontology so models and agents can use NOS data reliably.
• Build predictive and anomaly-detection models supporting operations and engineering decisions, including time-series analysis of sensor data.
• Help own model quality end-to-end: eval criteria, acceptance thresholds, and regression suites for audit-ready results.
