Job summary

ESP Associates, Inc. is seeking a SUE Technician in North Charleston, SC. This role supports designating utilities in the field and performing records research as part of our multi-discipline engineering, surveying, and planning firm.

You will work on DOT, municipal, and public utility projects while developing skills in GPR and locating equipment. Applicants should have 1-3 years of field utility designation experience, strong organizational abilities, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Previous experience designating utilities and performing records research required.
• 1-3 years field experience in utility designating.
• Working knowledge of Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetic pipe & cable locating equipment, and vacuum excavation a plus.
• Strong management and organizational skills while performing field operations.
• Experience with DOT, municipal, and/or public utility projects a plus.
• Skills involved in the preparation/organization of field sketches & digital photographs, completion of daily checklists & timesheets, and vehicle navigation are required.
• Surveying and/or drafting experience a plus, but not required.
• Position will involve some travel out of town.

Responsibilities

• Designate utilities and perform records research in field.
• Operate GPR and locating equipment.
• Prepare/organize field sketches and digital photos; complete checklists and timesheets; navigate vehicles.
• Travel to out-of-town job sites as needed.
• Surveying/drafting tasks may be required but are not essential.
