Overview

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is a specialized branch of engineering focused on mitigating risks in infrastructure design and construction. We collaborate with engineers and utility owners to identify utility conflicts using technologies such as electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey, and vacuum excavation. Our work demands high precision and technical expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a talented team on diverse projects.
  • Interpret utility records, survey drawings, and highway design plans.
  • Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
  • Operate vacuum excavation trucks and perform test holes to expose utilities.
  • Apply appropriate traffic maintenance strategies.
Qualifications
  • 0-2 years of experience with electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Strong reading comprehension and communication skills.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work overtime.
  • Ability to walk several miles daily.
  • Capability to lift equipment up to 80 lbs.
  • Commitment to safety for yourself and others.
  • Proficiency in English for understanding written and verbal communications.
