Job summary

T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue) in Oceanside, NY is seeking a utility locator to join the SUE field tech team. You’ll gain on‑the‑job training in utility locating/designating and surveying methods.

The role involves working outdoors, collaborating with engineers and surveyors, and operating various field equipment. Responsibilities include using geophysical equipment, CAD, and vacuum excavation trucks, with travel to support regional operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Past utility-related experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to read and understand plans and drawings.
• Good communication and organization skills.
• Comfortable using computer software and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, land surveyors, and technicians to produce deliverables.
• Use geophysical equipment to investigate and designate underground utilities.
• Work with CAD as part of documentation processes.
• Operate vacuum excavation trucks to expose utilities.
• Drive non-CDL commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Use power tools such as jackhammers and concrete saws as needed.
• Complete daily paper and electronic documentation.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance.
