Job summary

DCCM seeks a SUE Crew Lead to plan, coordinate, and lead daily field operations for subsurface utility engineering investigations. You will oversee utility designation, locating, mapping, and data collection while ensuring safety and quality standards.

You will provide leadership to field technicians, maintain quality control, and ensure successful project delivery. The role requires hands-on supervision and a focus on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of utility locating, SUE, surveying, or related field experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of underground utility systems including water, sewer, stormwater, gas, electric, fiber optic, and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Experience using utility locating equipment including electromagnetic locators and GPR systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, utility maps, and construction drawings.
• Proficient with data collection technologies including GPS and electronic field documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct daily SUE field activities including utility designation, locating, and data collection.
• Interpret engineering plans, utility records, surveys, and project specifications.
• Operate and oversee electromagnetic locating equipment, GPR, GPS, and other investigation technologies.
• Verify and mark underground utility locations per requirements.
• Coordinate field activities with project managers, survey crews, clients, and contractors.
• Ensure schedules, production goals, and quality standards are achieved.
• Track field progress and report updates and recommendations to management.
