Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience counseling or supporting individuals with SUD.
• At least 5 years of experience in behavioral health or community support settings.
• Certification or eligibility as a Recovery Coach, Certified Peer Specialist, or SUD Counseling Practitioner in D.C.

Responsibilities

• Guide with empathy: help clients define recovery goals and create individualized recovery plans reflecting strengths.
• Empower independence: teach vital life skills including coping strategies, daily living, transportation, and interpersonal communication.
• Be the bridge: connect clients to community resources like housing, employment, and self-help groups.
• Support through crisis: provide compassionate assistance during challenging moments, ensuring safety.
• Advocate: help clients access benefits and entitlements such as SSI, Medicaid, housing vouchers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate care, and maintain communication with partner agencies.
• Document progress notes and updates within established timelines.
