Job summary

Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC) in Seattle is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Professional or Trainee to work with clients facing homelessness and co-occurring disorders. You will perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and connect clients with integrated services in a day shift environment.

This role requires WA SUDP/SUDPT licensure, a valid driver’s license, and ability to collaborate with shelter and housing teams. DESC offers union representation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Substance Use Disorder Professional or Trainee in Washington.
  • SUDPT applicants must be enrolled in a program to meet SUDP requirements.
  • Must have a valid WA driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Interest or experience in serving people experiencing homelessness and behavioral health needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform alcohol and drug assessments and intake evaluations; develop plans with client participation.
  • Plan, organize and facilitate treatment and support groups for clients.
  • Provide substance abuse consultation to Mental Health and Housing staff.
  • Provide staff training on substance abuse issues as appropriate.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate services for homeless adults.
  • Advocate for client access to resources and continuity of care with community partners.
  • Participate in psychiatric review, supervision, meetings and trainings; maintain records.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and data submission requirements.
  • Engage in program research procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
