Job summary

T2 Utility Engineers in Round Rock, TX is hiring entry-level SUE field technicians for our Subsurface Utility Engineering team. No prior experience or advanced degree required; training will be provided.

You will help locate and designate utilities, support surveying tasks, and gain expertise in SUE techniques and tools. We offer on-the-job training, opportunities for advancement, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only).
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical movements to operate heavy tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climates.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Must have good oral communication skills and attention to detail.
  • OSHA Safety certifications are a plus.
  • Prior utility related experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Highway/Utility plans is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Learn operation of SUE locating and designating equipment.
  • Use tools to conduct utility investigations (jackhammer, vacuum, etc.).
  • Drive commercial vehicles (CDL not required).
  • Complete daily logs of work performed.
  • Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Assist with survey and data collection tasks.
  • Perform safety set-up and maintenance of traffic operations under supervision.
  • Assist with overall crew activities and data collection.

SUE Technician I responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Learn the operation of SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators and non-destructive vacuum excavation
  • Use of tools and equipment to conduct utility investigations, including jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor blower, vacuum hose, air lance, and hand tools
  • Drive commercial motor vehicles, however a CDL license is not required
  • Complete daily logs of work performed, which includes simple mathematics
  • Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance
  • Perform safety set-up and maintenance of traffic operations under direct supervision of senior field staff
  • Assist with survey and data collection tasks, supporting overall crew activities
  • Perform daily routine maintenance of equipment

Tech I Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only)
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical movements necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climates
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, by company vehicle or commercial airline, up to 2 week continuous stay.
  • Must have a good oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • OSHA Safety certifications are a plus
  • Prior utility related experience is a plus
  • Basic understanding of Highway/Utility plans is a plus, but not required
