Welcome to Foxborough High School, John J. Ahern Middle School, Vincent M. Igo Elementary School, Mabelle M. Burrell Elementary School, Charles G. Taylor Elementary School
Foxborough High School is an outstanding comprehensive college preparatory high school. 90% of our students go on to post secondary education opportunities, 75% to four-year schools, and 15% to two-year programs. Students take advantage of the range of educational opportunities offered at the high school, including an honors program with several advance course options in each discipline including Advanced Placement courses. In addition to a strong academic program, Foxborough High School is proud of its extracurricular program. Students are involved in the Drama Club, Yearbook, School Newspaper, Debate Team, Multi-Cultural Club, SADD, and Student Government. In all, approximately 80% of the student body participates in the extracurricular program, making FHS an exciting and dynamic campus. The Students and staff at Foxborough High School continually strive to raise the achievement level of all students. At the Ahern Middle School, we strive to create an environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional needs of every student, in every classroom, every day. Serving 750 students in grades 5 through 8, we aim to ensure every student knows they belong, they matter, they are valued, and they can be successful here. Our Ahern Constitution is a student-created set of core values and school-wide academic and behavioral expectations. The five overarching values to which our students hold themselves and one another accountable are: Be Respectful and Kind; Be Responsible and Engaged Learners; Be Inclusive; Be Safe; Be the Best Version of Ourselves. Every curricular program is aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and reflects high standards for academic performance. In addition to English language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and world language, students regularly attend classes in wellness, music, art and STEM. We are thrilled to be able to offer several Project Lead the Way courses, including Automation and Robotics, Medical Detectives, Green Architecture, Computer Science for Innovators, and App Creators. Students in grade 8 study civics for their social studies course. Each year in this course, students collaborate in small groups on projects meant to make meaningful change in their school, local community, or state. Our talented, experienced teachers and staff work collaboratively to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that acknowledges, respects, and celebrates each learner’s background, learning style and diverse needs. Teachers incorporate a variety of instructional strategies to differentiate instruction and meet the wide range of children’s learning needs. Our staff is committed to working with each child to meet her/his individual needs. We recognize that preadolescence/adolescence is perhaps the most rapidly changing time in a person’s life and are sensitive to the social and emotional development of our students. We give our students their best opportunities for success when home and school are working collaboratively together.
The Mabelle M. Burrell School is one of three neighborhood schools in Foxborough. Burrell serves approximately 400 children from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. The building provides a safe, clean, attractive environment which includes a full cafeteria, library, auditorium, gymnasium and playground. Each student has access to computers and the internet directly in the classroom and in the mini-lab. We offer on-site care before and after school to children of working parents. Burrell has a strong curricular program with high standards for academic as well as social performance. In addition to language arts, social studies, math and science, children regularly have classes in Spanish, wellness, music and visual arts. Much of the instruction is interdisciplinary to help children integrate learning. Our talented, experienced teaching staff is committed to providing Foxborough's children with an excellent education. They create a stimulating and nurturing learning environment that respects and accommodates each child's individual learning style. In keeping with our district-wide objectives, we strive to keep classes at a reasonable size and heterogeneously grouped. Teaching Assistants, Reading & Math Specialists, Special Educators, Counselors, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists work directly with classroom teachers to help meet the range of learning needs for all students. Parents play a vital role in the life of the school. Thanks to the tremendous ongoing support of our PTO, we have been able to upgrade playgrounds, provide field trips and fund cultural programs to enhance the curriculum. In addition, the PTO organizes family events such as the End-of-Year Picnic, the Sock Hop and Burrell Fun Day. We proudly participate in a variety of community interactions including the Each One Reach One Program, the Council on Aging Volunteer Program and musical visits from the Serenading Seniors. Local police officers and firefighters teach special lessons on health and safety issues. In addition, the children contribute to the town of Foxborough through events that support the Discretionary Fund and other charitable organizations.
