Job description

Teacher, Substitute

Substitute Teachers will step in to cover absent teachers, ensuring continuity of instruction across the district. Their primary responsibility is to follow the assigned lesson plans and uphold the school and system-wide curriculum goals.

Basic Function & Responsibility

In the absence of a Teacher or Support Staff, follow regular lesson plans to ensure consistency and instruction continues without interruption.

Entry Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or GED
• Texas Certified or college degree preferred
• Successful background check; employee responsible for approximately $50 non‑refundable fingerprinting fee.

Instructional and Student Support Duties

• Follow teacher plans and present information and instruction to help students learn

Supervision Exercised

Provide guidance and direction as assigned.

Physical & Mental Demands

• Tools/Equipment: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
• Posture: prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting
• Motion: frequent walking
• Lifting: regular light lifting and carrying (<15 lb); may lift textbooks and classroom equipment
• Environment: indoor, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
• Mental demands: maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours

Salary
