Easterseals Florida’s Explorer Academy is seeking a dependable Substitute Teacher/Teacher Assistant to support early childhood classrooms during staff absences and high enrollment. Hours run between 7:45 a.m.

and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, offering exposure to multiple age groups and a nurturing learning environment. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, experience with young children, and a willingness to complete required trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with young children preferred.
• Experience supporting children with disabilities or special needs preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Ability to complete Florida DCF 45-Hour Child Care Training within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage across multiple age groups.
• Follow lesson plans, daily schedules, and teacher guidance.
• Supervise children and ensure a safe learning environment.
• Assist with learning activities, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and daily routines.
• Support children's social, emotional, and developmental growth.
• Encourage language development through meaningful conversations.

Easterseals Florida's Explorer Academy is seeking a dependable, caring, and flexible Substitute Teacher / Teacher Assistant to support our early childhood classrooms during staff absences, vacations, and periods of high enrollment.

This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and want the flexibility to work in different classrooms while helping children learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.

Schedule: Hours will be scheduled between 7:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, based on program needs.

What You'll Do

As a Substitute Teacher / Teacher Assistant, you'll help maintain a positive learning environment and provide classroom support as needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing classroom coverage across multiple age groups
• Following lesson plans, daily schedules, and teacher guidance
• Supervising children and ensuring a safe learning environment
• Assisting with learning activities, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and daily routines
• Supporting children's social, emotional, and developmental growth
• Encouraging language development through meaningful conversations and open-ended questions
• Maintaining attendance records and classroom documentation
• Communicating professionally with families and team members
• Keeping classrooms clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
• Adapting to various classrooms and serving as a positive role model
• Participating in training and professional development opportunities
• Performing other duties as needed to support program operations

• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience working with young children preferred
