Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Special Knowledge/Skills: General knowledge of curriculum and instruction; Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for different learning styles
• Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies reflecting student needs
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan activities
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for IEPs
• Coordinate goals with staff to meet district requirements
• Supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers
• Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process
• Create classrooms conducive to learning and manage student behavior
• Protect students and resources; safeguard equipment and facilities
• Assist in selection of books and instructional materials
• Establish and maintain conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community members
• Engage in staff development to improve job-related skills
• Keep informed of district policies and regulations
• Prepare and file reports and documents
• Attend faculty meetings and participate in committees
