Job summary

Head Start is seeking a Substitute Teacher to assume full classroom responsibilities in the absence of the regular teacher. The role supports Head Start families, maintains learning centers, and ensures daily lesson plans and schedules are implemented.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, with CDA or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. Candidates should be able to recruit volunteers, attend trainings, and help maintain a clean classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare setting.
• Strong behavior management and positive reinforcement skills.
• Ability to support daily lesson plans and classroom activities.

Responsibilities

• Implements daily lesson plans and schedules.
• Organizes and maintains learning centers in the classroom.
• Maintains order with positive behavior management strategies.
• Recruits volunteers and solicits in-kind contributions.
• Attends meetings, trainings and workshops as required.
• Maintains cleanliness of classrooms and restrooms.
• Advocates for Head Start families and children.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
