Job summary

Los Alamos Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Teacher for district-wide coverage in Los Alamos, New Mexico. This non-contract position provides opportunities to support classroom instruction and maintain an engaging learning environment.

Starting Date: To Be Determined. Current hourly rates are $30.00 for active licensed teachers and $23.00 for active substitute licenses, with no NMPSIA or NMERB benefits and no PTO accruals included in this role.

Qualifications

• Six hours of observations plus paid orientation session

This is a non-contract position, No representation from the Union.

In lieu of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher directs program of study, creates classroom environment conducive to learning, guides learning process toward curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons/units/projects and communicates these to students, supports rules of classroom behavior and procedures, maintains classroom order, attends staff meetings (if applicable), maintains accurate/complete/correct records as required.

Individuals applying to substitute will be required to complete six hours total of observations at the elementary school, middle school and high school as well as a paid Substitute orientation session.
