Job summary

Family Guidance Center of Alabama is seeking dedicated and compassionate Substitute Teachers for our Head Start Program in Wetumpka, AL. As a Substitute Teacher, you will support daily classroom activities, follow lesson plans, and help create a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.

This on‑call position requires a high school diploma or GED, with an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children, especially in a classroom setting, is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, on‑call capacity.
  • Must pass a background check and physical exam.
  • Please Note: The Substitute Teacher is responsible for covering the cost of the required background check and physical exam prior to employment.

  • Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist with daily activities, including educational exercises, playtime, and meal preparation.

Family Guidance Center of Alabama is seeking dedicated and compassionate Substitute Teachers for our Head Start Program. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5. You will be responsible for providing support in the absence of regular classroom teachers and assisting with daily classroom activities, including supervision, instruction, and interaction with the children in accordance with Head Start policies.
