Job summary

Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission is seeking a flexible Center Aide to support Head Start program operations under the supervision of the Center Director. Responsibilities include class supervision when staff are absent, assisting with lesson plans, and ensuring safe arrival of children with health checks.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass background checks and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency certificate.
• Enrolled in advanced degree program or achievement of Associate Degree, or higher, highly preferred.
• Possess a current and valid driver’s license; must be insurable.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supervises classrooms when regular staff is not available.
• Assists Teachers and other staff to prepare class lesson plans.
• Assists with monitoring and checking children arriving at the classroom (appearance, health checks).
• Assists with cleaning and sanitizing Center classrooms and other areas.
• Monitors Center outdoor play areas for safety and security concerns.
• Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
