• BACHELOR DEGREE TRANSCRIPT (UNOFFICIAL ACCEPTABLE)
• COPY OF YOUR VALID TEACHING CERTIFICATE

Substitute teachers assume the responsibility for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.

Maintain appropriate records including attendance.

Fulfill necessary clerical work required to maintain student records for a teacher who is absent.

Implement substitute lesson plans for absent teachers based on the lesson plans outlined by the full-time teacher or at times may be required to create lesson plans that meet the learning objective of the class.

Review homework and classwork and be able to correct student errors and/or provide feedback.

Maintain proper classroom management.

Provide guidance to students where applicable.

Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

Oversee pupil behavior in class and surrounding areas and maintain normal classroom routines and discipline within the classroom.

Maintain appropriate boundaries with students, staff, and parents.

Foster a positive relationship with students and staff.

Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

BENEFITS:

Mount Vernon School District employees are eligible for SEBB medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and long‑term disability (LTD) coverage if they are anticipated to work 630 hours or more during the school year. Eligibility for retirement benefits applies to employees working 3.5 hours per day or more for five or more consecutive months. We also offer optional tax‑sheltered annuities, including the Omni 403(b) and the Deferred Compensation Plan. Personal leave, vacation leave (for 260‑day employees only), and sick leave are prorated based on full‑time employment status.
