Job summary

Kokua Education in Los Angeles is seeking substitute teachers to fill flexible assignments across K-12 schools. You set your own schedule, earn daily rates, and help students stay engaged.

You’ll need at least one year of experience with kids, a Bachelor’s degree or higher, and a valid California teaching credential. Training and reimbursements are provided, with support from 6am to 8pm daily.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher and a valid California teaching credential (Sub Permit or full).
• At least 1 year working with kids in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
• Pass state and federal background checks are required (costs reimbursed after 10 assignments).

Responsibilities

• Cover lessons and manage classrooms in assigned schools.
• Supervise lunch/recess and tutoring as needed, proctor during testing season.

• $208/day for daily positions and $260/day for long-term positions
• Paid via W-2, meaning no year-end tax headaches

• Hold a valid, unexpired California Teaching Credential (CTC) Sub Permit or full California Teaching Credential
• Don't have your Sub Permit yet? No worries! We'll walk you through the process, and reimburse you for out of pocket costs once you start teaching.
• Feel confident managing a classroom of students
• Are willing to step in where needed - this could include lunch/recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season
• Pass state & federal background checks (costs reimbursed after 10 assignments)
