Job summary

Alcuin School seeks a Substitute Teacher to support mixed-age Montessori or International Baccalaureate classrooms from toddlers to high school age students. Training will be provided during orientation and onboarding.

Responsibilities include snack and lunch supervision, playground oversight, carpool assistance, and delivering lesson plans or proctoring tests as needed. In Toddler Division, assistance with toileting may be required.

Qualifications

• Must pass Criminal Background Checks, reference checks and Drug Testing
• Toddler Division: Health & Human Services Background Check may be required
• No formal Montessori or IB training required, High School diploma required

Strict guidelines are followed based on the training provided.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** - Help with snack preparation - Provide playground supervision - Provide lunch supervision - Assist in arrival and departure carpool activities - Based on qualifications, may be tasked with delivering lesson plans and proctoring quizzes/tests - In Toddler Division, assist children with toileting and cleaning themselves## Qualifications**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS** *Required:* - Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S. - Must pass Criminal Background Checks, reference checks and Drug Testing - If subbing in the Toddler Division, must pass Health & Human Services Background Check - No formal Montessori or IB training is needed to apply - High School diploma or equivalent - Strong interpersonal skills - Experience working with children - Warm and friendly demeanor - Must be dependable and prompt when having committed to a shift *Preferred:* - Previous experience working as a substitute or regular teacher - Previous experience in a Montessori or International Baccalaureate teaching environment is helpful but not required - Driver’s license**EQUIPMENT USED** - Computer - Copy machine - Classroom materials and equipment**JOB CONDITIONS** - Works in standard classroom conditions and climates - Works outdoors in various climates supervising students at recess or at carpool, as needed**PAY RANGE** Pay is $24.00/hour**HOURS** Days and hours will vary according to the school’s needs. The school day is typically 7:30 – 4:00 Monday through Friday, so the substitute may be asked to cover a class at any time during those hours.
